A lovely shop full of antiques, vintage and interior pieces, and the odd quirky bit too, in the pretty town of Dulverton, gateway to Exmoor

BBC’s Chris Mason calls Farage a “master of storytelling”
Maybe the BBC could stop helping him out and tell another story. One about a grifting prejudiced conman who’s wrecked our country with his ‘Breaking Point’ Brexit but has never been held to account for the lies he’s told, the damage he’s done.

Ahhh no. Johnnie Walker. RIP old friend. We never actually met but old friend feels right. You’ve been there since I first heard you on R1 and I listened to your last show so recently 😢. You’ve always been the absolute best.

I occasionally write a blog post: here’s the first one on my new (2024) website. Many of my posts will point out some of the pitfalls of buying from auction. I have a lot of experience, but even so I still get caught. Here’s one where I got snagged www.hardyantiques.co.uk/en-GB/silver...
Silver, and all is not as it seems

Where had this habit of calling everyone* Fella come from. I person loathe it when it’s used by a dealer “yea that’s ok fella, thanks fella”, etc. Nearly as bad as being called Buddie/Bud by people you’ve never met
*mainly men I guess

Just made the mistake of warming Meusli in the micro thinking “it’s just porridge really”.
An enormous error.
Won’t do that again 🤢

I wish The Saleroom would put a little parcel logo or something on the listings for auctions that do their own (not third-party: v important) postage etc. I’d jump straight to them.

“I can’t sell you that unless you’re 18”
“OH. OK. Can you reserve it for me then? I’ll be 18 in two years”
🤦🏼‍♂️

I may be wrong to, but when I see negligence like this (frequent at this establishment) I feel that the public will lose confidence buying at auction and return per mel to the shop where they have a dealer and some rights.

Is it me or is the ‘antiques’ population on here really small so far…?
What am I missing?
Are there any of those follow packs that are relevant?

Procrastinating. The next task is photographing some framed and glazed images - the hardest this things to photograph IMO. Any tips?

It does amaze me, as a long standing dealer and antiques shop owner, how many people think it’s their right to tell me how to operate: “ you should do…”, “your display needs to be like …”, “why don’t you buy …”.

Just me, or you too?
