A new study applies deep reinforcement learning to art history:
First detect cultural context (Western, Islamic, East Asian), then identify style — achieving 96% accuracy.
A step toward more culturally contextual AI for art recognition?

Digital art history is shifting from books to databases.
In her paper, Jana Horáková argues that the database is the symbolic form of the computer age.
AI and digital humanities now merge to write a new kind of art history.

Watching this project unfold is fascinating:
An agent that pulls transcripts from YouTube, extracts data from BlueSky threads, searches Google Scholar, and compiles a full scientific paper in minutes, orchestrated through sitegeist.ai.

Ahhh, I just realized you mean the paper generator above.

I built a browser agent: sitegeist.ai

I then pointed it at:

- YouToube videos (extracted transcripts)
- BlueSky threads (extracted text, img urls for charts and their alt text)
- Google Scholar for references that fit

I'm happy to present my latest oeuvre: a "scientific" paper on the use of LLMs by newspapers, generated by an LLM, based on @schenior.bsky.social and my BlueSky threads and YouTube video transcripts over the past few days.

This would pass peer review of some C/D confs/journals I was a reviewer on..

Ben Thompson argues that the AI boom isn’t just a bubble — it’s an accelerator of infrastructure and ideas. Like railways or the dot-com era, speculation builds the groundwork for lasting progress in chips, energy, and innovation capacity.

The Benefits of Bubbles
We are in an AI Bubble: the big question is if this bubble will be worth it for the physical infrastructure and coordinated innovation that result?

As for the METR paper, it's definitely needed research, because claims by AI peddlers are severly overblown imho.

However, I do think that LLM-assisted development can be a huge net benefit. If you put in the time to establish your own workflows and understand when and when not to use an LLM.

Sehr guter Thread.
There’s a growing & deeply problematic tendency to use #genAI for political and historical education Take this example from Germany, which translates as: «Hey AI, who should I vote for.» What’s typical here is that AI is not only addressed as pseudo-person but also as a kind of impartial judge
