Easy to look at him a bit stronger tonight and think it’s easy decision to save him. It’s the life of a creature in the balance. I sat with him for an hour tonight and even though he’s tired and still battling I knew the decision was right. Come on Oreo you got this (7/7)

Oreo is back with me at the land. The hardest part of the decision was spending the money without any certain outcome. Even tonight he’s still sick and weak but we have some hope that he can make it. It might take weeks though if complete rest (6/7)

The debate I have is is do you try to save 1 Oreo for $2000 or do you spend that money on Sterilising (neutering) 40 dogs. The 2nd option would stop 100s of future Oreo suffering. In the end I decided to spend the money and Oreo stayed in the vets for 9 days (5/7)

We managed to keep him alive and he got the transfusion. He lived in the oxygen tank days. He got a small bit better. But then he got worse. Another blood transfusion was needed. The bill was heading to $2000. Again I hesitated but after sleepless night went ahead (4/7)

There was only one hope for him. A full blood transfusion. Cost of about $700. For your own pet you’d do it in a second but it’s a street dog and resources are finite. He was as bad as I’ve seen a dog. I don’t mind saying in those 2 hours I hesitated (3/7)

Oreo came in with severe anemia cause by blood parasites. Some local volunteers asked me to take him so he could rest. He quickly went downhill overnight. 9 days ago I came in and he was about to die. You get to know the signs. The vets wouldn’t open for 2 more hours (2/7)

6 days is all it took. Mainly… Wound not hurting as much Rusty being a great help Stella is only 8 months old. The inner puppy came out in her Treats, medicine, love and safety. Stella could just have run off. But she knew this was her place (7/7)

Stella quickly watched as Rusty and Libby interacted with humans. She learnt within a few hours that we were ok. The other dogs put her at ease and she even started playing. We hadn’t planned to even move her for another week. But she made her own mind up and broke out! (6/7)

She still wouldn’t come near me obviously but after an hour I was able to coax her into a big fenced in area. That’s where she met Rusty. He is out big resident softy who lived his life on a chain. Stella loved him. Stella quickly started to come alive. (5/7)

It all started yesterday morning. When I arrived she had eaten her way out of her kennel. Couldn’t believe it. The tiniest hole but she got out through the wire. I panicked that she was gone for good. But I was stunned. She didn’t go anywhere. She wanted to stay around!!(4/7)

I had a whole video about her on Saturday explaining how long it would take. We had to keep her locked up and cleaning her wound was very tough. She didn’t like the world around her. It was going to take time. How completely wrong we were… (3/7)

Stella came in with string tied around her neck. The vets sedated her to get it off and we were keeping her in a kennel to slowly help her recover. We couldn’t touch her and she was still snappy. The wound started to heal up very fast with proper care (2/7)
