If the US can do whatever it wants to whomever it wants with no regard for human rights, the Geneva Convention, US law, the UCMJ, or international law, then we are no different than Vladimir Putin and Russia, who I suppose was the role model for Trump foreign policy doctrine.

Your point is well-taken. However, it's profoundly important to make the distinction between physical courage and moral courage. The two are *profoundly* different things. Moral courage is dramatically suppressed (and in fact, antithetical) in militaries throughout the world and throughout history.
