It's a terrible precedent, and even more so that the world is largely silent, as it's always been about Western Sahara, and there is little attention to the profound implications. Even the BBC has covered the UN abandonment as achieving 'Moroccan unity' 😡

Here's me with the then UJSARIO (youth) leader Beisat, 1996. I carried a message of solidarity & support for a free Western Sahara from UK youth. It is a deep pain to imagine explaining to our 20 year-old selves that the world has abandoned international law to fawn to a Trump Riviera pipe dream 6/

The Reception this evening was meant to honour the visit of Polisario Foreign Secretary Mohamed Beisat, but he was called away this morning to the 'Moroccan Autonomy' planning. Yes, that's right. Countries like Denmark, Greece. Somalia voted in hope of 'good faith' from Morocco with no promises. 5/

'We need to return to international diplomacy ruled by law, not force'
EU Polisario rep Omar Mansour movingly described how, following the UK's capitulation, the UN Security Council voted in favour of 'the Moroccan Autonomy Plan' 2 weeks ago-despite there being NO actual plan. 3 voted against. 4/

To it's shame, this Labour government Foreign & Commonwealth Office stealthily shifted a long-standing in UK commitment to self-determination of Western Saharans to one of support for 'Moroccan Autonomy' in June 2025. Polisario rep pointed out UK Labour has been a friend of the party since 80s...2/

How many commentaries since February have come out of the US saying 'we should have paid more attention to what was long a daily reality of human rights abuses for migrants in US immigration detention'? And from migrant/refugee activists pointing to the previously ignored evidence?

Well, I've just duly handed over my fingerprint & iris biometric data to EES (Europe's Entry/Exit System) to leave these sunlit uplands. What with EES + police already using mobile fingerprint scanners, it is arguable the only difference with Trump2.0 is scale up stopthescan.co.uk

I'm surprised Blair isn't suing for defamation by this point for the endless stealing of his thunder for introducing the PBS 2002-2008
