This is the intro - part of the amazing & lush strings arrangement that the wonderful Paul Edis wrote for us, featuring Debs White & Dave Larkin on violin, Reiad Chiba on viola and Julia Graham on cello. All produced by Jamie McCredie who also got to play his ukulele! Stream it from May 30th!

Astrud Gilberto - growing up I had a Brazilian friend, so was lucky to be introduced to lots of bossa nova records. I love this era of music, and Astrud is the queen. Astrud’s tone is so light and I really like that it feels sophisticated rather than overly saccharine.

Nancy Wilson - I am late to this party, and what a party it is. Such soulful and beautiful singing. She is up there as one of my favourite vocalists now.

Chet Baker - I love how much character he has in his voice. He doesn’t chase ‘the pocket’ for his groove, but allows his melodies to float over. He interprets so many standards and really makes them his own, almost like they are his original tunes, they feel so personal.

Ella Fitzgerald - there is a reason she is considered one of the greatest singers of all time. Her scat is brilliant. Her phrasing is brilliant. Her tone is wonderful. I’ve never heard her sing anything that isn’t exquisite
