All science is political. May as well acknowledge that and then make sure that you’re aware of how your science is being used.
And god please stop treating political as a dirty word and pretending there is a view from nowhere. When Vannevar Bush mobilized science for defense and industry that was political. Doing research to preserve the natural world or help the disenfranchised and underserved is political.

My dad doesn’t know it, but I think, “that is a lot of information which is also quite interesting” is one of the best compliments someone could give me on my R36 research strategy.
