Raina is just like "neat :0 I don't think I need to" and it's just never brought up again bc its a non-issue for him. 🤣 he's very happy with his birth name. His surname Aureus - which comes from his mother - is just based on "aurum", latin for gold.

But when I started playing FFXIV again like six years ago, I brought him over and while his story has changed, his name just never did LOL he presents more masc by the end of StB and has a conversation with his older brother that's like: "you know you can pick your own name right, if you want"

Bit of both, it depends on how important the OC is - if it's a tabletop character or one that's more of a "main" character I'm making for a game or setting, then it's more likely I took the time to find one with meaning. Supporting cast tends to just get "yeah that sounds ok" tho LOL
