@halflingspy.bsky.social
Writer and Lead of Sprites and Dice. Enjoys new projects and rambling conversations. Tries to do the right thing. He/Him, ADHD fun 24/7. Trying to figure out the gaming dad thing.
Cowards. Cowards and sell outs.

The shutdown was to make a point and help not bankrupt a healthcare system. By caving due to PAC money you’ve just made the entire party look like sellouts for absolutely nothing.

Want to know why words like socialism don’t scare younger generations? Here you are.

Spending the last few warm days of fall trying to level up gardening skills and teaching the kid about nature.

Very tired, but very satisfied.

*Sigh* Seems like the local black bears think my compost bins are a buffet. Second side this year torn up looking for food before hibernation!

Fortunate enough to have spent some of the weekend touching grass. Or leaves in this case.

Nothing says fantasy wargame like gluing mini daisy cutter explosives to your airship!

Can we talk about how this advice is going around because SNAP benefits are ending soon after Halloween and just how much that hurts the soul?

In proper #ADHD fashion, I was so excited to get this as a holiday gift… two years ago.

To help kick off my 40th year, time to actually dig in! Thanks to @danidonovan.com for writing it.

Wife’s birthday gift came for me today.

Brushing up on history and folk tales are always a great way to get your creative writing juices flowing… whether for novel writing or worldbuilding for ttrpgs, who can say?

Let’s find out.

Any game where I can pet the city I'm living on already goes up by a whole point.

Loving my time with @strayfawnstudio.bsky.social's "The Wandering Village". Just been a delightful distraction.

Sappy end of the birthday here.

Wrapping up the evening by reading through one of my favorite possessions - this journal my wife made for me 15 years for my 25th birthday. It became tradition for friends to sign it like a yearbook every 5 years.

Reading through comments old and new and smiling.

RIP my high school days.

Bummer - 3 and a half years after building it, my first woodworking project is kaput.

12 foot bridge over the drainage stream got a crack in it along where the screws went, and the edges embedded in the ground had started to rot.

Only get better by trying, failing, and rebuilding. Take two soon!

This actual quote has been stuck in my brain for months.

“August 2, 1914: Germany has declared war on Russia. Went swimming in the afternoon.”

Someone got me Final Fantasy Tactics for my birthday month - probably my favorite game and one of my most formative. It taught me games could be art and have a message.

To celebrate, showing off a favorite convention purchase from years ago - Rembrandt, eat your heart out.

10 year old me just screamed with delight.

30s year old me just screamed with delight! Animorphs brings me back to hiding in the corner of a library reading as fast as I can.

Prepping for the next decade like I promised myself. Test driving the new weighted vest on a morning walk on the rail trail!

Kid wanted to come and wear his wild kratts vest to fit in. Now it’s a nature adventure walk too.

I am not going to be normal about this game.

Goblin Cleanup just came out, and it's just... amazing multiplayer silliness. Cleaning up a dungeon after the heroes made a mess of things, falling into death traps over and over. They understood the assignment and the comedy so well.

40 is about a month away, but this is far too accurate. Stupid Helldivers 2.

Awww, two cute fawns when I first wake up in the back yard!

…Also why I have to put fencing up on ANYTHING garden adjacent.

For #FinishTheDamnGame month, I’m finally tackling a game I’ve wanted to play since middle school, but always seemed to find something else to do.

Final Fantasy 1 baby, here we come!

Took a walk on my break around the campus I work. It was club day, where they set up tables and advertise their events.

Found out the gaming club I started… 21 years ago isn’t dead yet! Just changed names and paused when COVID happened. Lots of excitement and energy.

The kids are alright.

As someone who has a 3rd edition Eldar codex… I must have this.

I need to up my painting game ASAP, this thing rocks.

Relearning rules once every few years is rough, but worth it. It’s the third game in the Pandemic Legacy series, we love its weird and wonderful turns. It always tries new things, tries to surprise you.

It might take us another few years to finish, but what a ride, and a friendship.
August 24, 2025 at 1:03 AM
Today was a treat.

About ten years ago, I started Pandemic Legacy with a really good friend. We both fell in love with it.

5 years ago, COVID, we both became parents, she moved out of state. Games became tougher.

It’s been two years since our last game, but we played, damnit!

Video games are weird. "Oh I need to relax - so lets attempt a stressful mining dig and have to deal with giant monsters the entire time while I do it". Drill Core from
@tinybuildgames.bsky.social is good fun.

How's your weekend going, and what are you doing to relax and recharge?
