Feel like it's a miss to not market these indirect-drive bikes as a 2-in-1 commuter/stationary bike.

If the pedals only power a generator w/ fancy software to emulate road feel, it should be feasible to implement a stationary "exercise bike" mode.

Would be super compelling for apartment dwellers.

If American's genuinely "loved" cars and driving, I feel like we'd see fewer drivers engaging in uncontrollable, rage-induced violence.

Three Arraez whiffs in 2 ABs should be an automatic Cy Young.

I'll have to get around setting that up!

If the goal is to have platform agnostic backups, I could see some people being cagey about letting a single platform manage those backups.

Still, platform-managed backups is absolutely a better default than no backups at all.

Nice! Good to know.

Feel like there's a need for an app/service specifically designed to create portable copies of your at:// data, either locally or in S3 or something else you directly control or manage.

I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the portability aspect.

In the hosting analogy, I have a local copy of my website files, and switching hosts is matter of uploading those files somewhere else and changing my DNS.

If Bluesky shuts down, I have no local copy to "move"... So what happens?

Two blocks North/South*

East/West a 1/4 mile is four blocks, but bus stops still tend to be every two.

It's those E/W lines that tend to be the most egregious with the overly-frequent stops, in my experience.

Gotta extend Nico. Doubt you'd get better bang for buck anywhere on the FA market.

Same for Carson Kelly.

I wish there were more innovation in the "solar hybrid" space. Even if solar isn't viable as a sole means of charging, it could take a decent load off of public infra.

Being able to park anywhere and trickle charge opens up some interesting possibilities IMO.

For real. In the e-mobility convo, EVs are way more a "but no" than a "yes and".

Cubs should extend both Kelly and Hoerner ASAP if they can. Doubt you'd be able to find better bang-for-buck anywhere on the FA market.

Kaegi is the best. CCAO has been doing fantastic work under his leadership.

@chicagocta.bsky.social also seems there's a lot of duplicate info between the "pay-for-your-fare" and "buying-fares" howto pages.

It may be beneficial to drop "buying-fares" since "pay-for-your-fare" seems to have much better SEO.

I'll happily donate a rewrite draft if it'd help jumpstart things.

Yeah IIRC the type-safety seems to present some challenges. From the gleam_otp doc's "Limitations and Known Issues":

> Actors do not yet support all OTP system messages, so some of the OTP debugging APIs may not be fully functional. These unsupported messages are discarded by actors.

@gleam.run's one missing piece IMHO is a batteries-included framework or CLI for multi-target projects. Wisp & Lustre are great building blocks, but wiring them together yourself presents a bit of a barrier.

For all their faults, 'rails new' and 'npx create-react-app' do wonders for adoption.
