Visualized in The Golden Compass, rescission cuts the soul of a government agency from the body politic.

In '70, I wrote a silly story about a creature called a gznork, and had the name put on my ΔΣΦ fraternity jersey.

Today, I asked ChatGPT to show me what it looks like.

A techie hangout I frequent called Soylent News has a user-operated moderation system. Part of it is several ways to rate a post or reply. Each one also has a mod value. Users can set their viewing preferences to filter below some resultant value.

In all the universe, we know of only one place where conservation, fish, wildlife and other living products of nature abound. Here's what it looks like from just beyond Saturn: that pale blue dot on the lower right side of the photo.

We took 35mm stills in the Yorktown Cinema in Chicagoland during the initial release, and recorded the cheers when the Death Star exploded on cassette. In total we saw Star Wars 13 times in theaters during that 72+ week run.

Well, the 'secret' is out: Trump believes he runs the world. I got that impression when he said he expected world leaders to appear before him in groups of 6 each week to beg for lower tariffs.

We're in the midst of an event cascade whose underpinnings go back at least to Joe McCarthy's HUAC. Like the dominos in V for Vendetta, a small event, such as the arrest of Judge Dugan, or what happened in this story, can trigger an avalanche, or revolution.

I'll post something from the very first Earth Day in 1970. The celebration at Florida Institute of Technology included a guest speaker: Jacques Cousteau. I got a bumper sticker, but put into my attache case.

We can help do this right here. Once the junta is defeated, we need to force changes to the legal basis of our self-governance. A few of us have started sketching out fixes in the leaflet doc attached to #gOS_2.0

Our legal system was hacked. Flaws were exploited. backdoors installed. Help fix it.

Absent 'Military OneSource' to say if an order is lawful, service members would have been on their own to make that judgement, just as we all have. but just as we can take concerted action, so might they. I wrote this in 2008, but it still applies.

Defeating tyranny is our immediate concern, but rebuilding our self-governance afterwards will require as much effort as monitoring Voyager or guiding weapons.

The OS of self-governance has been hacked, but together we can rewrite the legal code to prevent a recurrence.

Any time 🍊💩 is not given praise by a woman in power, he calls her 'nasty'. With his history of constant projection, I have to wonder if he's still lashing out at a woman in power who called him 'nasty' when he was a child.

Instead of becoming a mindless 'Rhinocerous', people today become MAGA, but Gene Wilder's character's sign in the 1974 movie is still powerful:

"You better not compromise yourself. It's all you got."

My kidhood focus was space, starting with the Ranger moon probes. I'd been at the Apollo 11 parade and worked at JPL before getting into #ballooning while on a DoD contract. So I'm jealous of what must have been a more magical experience for you. For me it was a practical engineering adventure.

#Ballooning
Even though I mostly crewed for ‘Double Eagle’, the only pins I got were from filling in on crew for two other balloons. Got lots of pictures, though.
