My guy just encourages me by squeezing himself in beside me while I knit… I would like him to encourage me from slightly further away but I take what I can get 😊

Me too! I decided to knit socks on the side. I knit the blanket (queen size with lace pattern) during the day and socks in the evening. The blanket would go faster if I didn’t keep messing up 🙄

This is the first complete cat nestled in lace and the pattern photo.

They’re mostly from the 1950s. Some men’s vests & cardigans, twin sets for women, & patterns for babies. I’ll look later and take a couple of photos.

I made a this when I was pregnant with my first. Here’s a page from it that I already had. I gave it to my son & DIL.

Finishing the first section of this blanket, which is a lot bigger than I realized 😂 Not a problem just a surprise. This is the first complete cat. There are 9 cats, 3 across each section. If I could resist getting distracted it would go a bit faster!

#showmeyourknits #WIP edition. 20 rows done & about 900 to go of The Cat’s Meow by Sharon Winsaur. This is going to take awhile! It’s a queen sized blanket — 5’ wide. Would have more done if it had occurred to me to use stitch markers every 10 stitches 🤦‍♀️ The socks are alternative knitting 🧶

Winsome and the gang are pleased to meet Praxedis!

I looked through my phone, the pile of books & printed patterns. & knitting bag to no avail. Then I got nostalgic & started looking through the books, pamphlets, etc. I found the booklet pictured. I knit a lot of socks so I looked through it & … there it was in a book of sock patterns (2011) 🤦‍♀️

This is a late entry for last week’s #showmeyourknit You will understand why…

I asked my daughter to find her mitts & take a photo b/c I wanted to post them in SMYKs. I loved the pattern but I lost it over 10 yrs ago.

Today someone asked the name of a cable sweater I posted. I went to look.

Cables! 🧶

1. My Aran sweater replacement for a stolen one. Way too big now. I want to knit another.

2. The Aran sweater knit for my daughter.

3. The hat and mittens I knit to match my daughter’s sweater.

4. A cable charity knit.

Next day I went back to see if I could find it. Not much hope but someone had found it & pinned it to the trailhead notice board 😊 😮‍💨

It made up for the time my daughter wore my Aran sweater and it was stolen when she wasn’t looking. Here’s the replacement I knit years later and one for her.

#showmeyourknits wants horror… I have a story but it has the happy ending you all wanted in the lost category.

I was hiking & lost one of these mitts. They are not only lovely on the outside, they are in the inside too (lined).

When I noticed one gone I walked up and down looking. Nothing 😢

Admirals Furgus is not amused. I am though. Very cute little pumpkin head you’ve got there.

Knitting #horrorstories Part 1 for #showmeyourknits

The first stranded sweater I’d done for 25 years. It had 4 colours on some rounds. Love a challenge.

So… I knit the sleeves too long 🤦‍♀️ & the neck was too high.

After ~5 years I fixed it.

Part II when my girl wakes (g-y shift — just went to bed)

Yes! On Ravelry it’s just called Rats! No designer named here.

That’s so cute! What a face!

Here’s my Ratty. I’m making one for my daughter’s cat with catnip in it.

#WIPWednesday They will be socks!

I don’t normally start a project before I finish the last one but… I am not going to have enough blue for my husband scrappy socks. No problem. I can get some tomorrow and it doesn’t matter if the dye lots don’t match. The second pair are going to be fairly plain.

October 18, 2025 at 3:32 PM
🧶 Hats? I have a few… all toques because I’m Canadian. It’s funny I have a couple of patterns for non toque hats but I’ve never got to them.

Info in the alt text.

Very nice! Your very cute model wears it well!

My little blond lookalike (if your model were never groomed) needs a sweater. She’s currently recovering from a bad sports injury and has to ride in her royal carriage which means she could get cold. I guess I’d better get at it!

#WIPWednesday #socktober edition. Here are some much needed socks for my poor suffering husband 🙄 He’s lucky I like knitting socks so much. I’m just using up some leftovers 🧶

Meet Ratty II the F-Bomb disposal rat. These are photos from his photo shoot before he heads off to his new home.

Another pair of Octopus Mittens.(Emily Peters). This is the 4th pair I’ve made. Canadian Briggs & Little Lite ‘n’ Fancy softspun 100% wool and Peruvean Yarnalia Joy 100% baby alpaca for the lining 🧶

I don’t do spooky but I did make the toque and black cat mitts for my daughter’s Halloween-loving roommate 🧶

I love them. I’ll have to take a look for my octopus-loving friend.

Here are my favourite mitts.

And it’s a wrap!

Eat the Rich is very well designed. The pattern is a little hard to follow (I was using KnitCompanion) b/c the charts are on 2 pp (can’t be helped). Horizontal numbering would help, as would using a chart with heavier lines every 5 rows & columns (drives me insane when not used).
