Led by Birgitta Gatersleben, we've developed resources that outline who does environmental social science, why & how you should engage with it, and case study examples of the positive impact of environmental social science on research, policy and society.

What have I learned from co-producing these systems maps?
1) The system of actors engaging in environmental topics is vast
2) There are plenty of opportunities as a result!
3) Systems maps are a really helpful tool to visualise this kind of landscape
4) Co-production is not easy, but so worth it!

A lot of what's discussed stems from my work developing the @accessnetwork.bsky.social kNowledge Exchange Map of Opportunities (ESS NEMO), which you can check out here: accessnetwork.uk/essnemo/

I outline some key ways in which systems maps can be impactful, including:
1) Increasing research impact
2) Facilitating collaboration
3) Improve networking
4) Enhance awareness of opportunities
5) Broaden understanding of system complexity
6) Provide inspiration for future mapping
