As for Google, it is true that nowadays, Google produces an AI overview of results at the top of its search function. However as you can see from the attached picture, it is clearly labelled as an AI overview.

Given the hot topic on the recent housing case where 5 fake cases were cited, I have created a custom ChatGPT with guardrails for EW lawyers. Use at your own risk, but note that this always searches BAILII first and provides results in a table with links.

Ultimately there is a very simple guard rail against this. You need to instruct the LLM on what you want it to provide you. To this end, I have created a basic custom GPT that you can test with the guardrails in the photo attached.
