I hate getting a cough. I feel actually sick for like two days, but I sound like shit for three weeks while I empty out.

And of course, during those three weeks, I don’t wanna be around anyone because I still sound and look sick, and don’t wanna look like some kind of irresponsible monster.

Listening to someone demand my attention at a rally so they can demand we "get out and vote".

We're an entirely vote-by-mail state. What does that even mean? It's like saying "get out and do your taxes" or "get out and brush your cat".

When a fur con that takes place in one of the most leather cities in the country decides that a spiked choker is too risqué, I'll spend my money elsewhere.

In other news, maybe learn how Unicode works before you try and make a website?

In the past few months, several people I knew and respected have left us in the network operator community. I know this is part of the human condition, but it still sucks.

Dave Taht, Meflin, Fred Baker. Neer. Spottacus.

Fearghas McKay is the latest. You'll be missed.

Not with a bang, not a whimper, but just the same busy signal many of us experienced in your heyday.

You were many people's first taste of the internet. Godspeed AOL Dialup.

At this point I'm just waiting for the current administration to tell us that smoke detectors are a leftist hoax to try and evade houses been seen by Jewish thermal spy satellites.

And that checking/changing your battery is a ruse by the Deep Battery State.

I hate this.

3am texts about Dell racadm from fellow BSD sysadmins?

Okay fine, here's five technical documents I've written, a couple blog posts and screenshots, plus the skeleton of a pending-acceptance package for this OS.

Found out today that you cannot deactivate your Tile trackers so that someone else (say, someone on craigslist) can re-use them, you can only transfer them to someone else via email address. (And these had replaceable batteries)

Garbage, right along with my old Eye-Fi card. Grr.

Look, if you're going to penalize Jimmy Kimmel for something, it should be this:

I think I've discovered why I love Dropout so much...

It had to be a streaming service, because you couldn't have done it on TV.

Hey @ellahubber.bsky.social -- is that a fursuit tail on your couch in the recent Lateral episodes, or are you just happy to see us?

Look, I understand that it's important to be informed, but when I come here, and SEVEN DIFFERENT POSTS in my feed are sharing the same clip of some dumbass baiting cops, it's time to start understanding that I just need to create an account that's only for appreciating the joy in the world.

It hasn't happened to my parents, thank god, but I've seen what dementia looks like and how a person can be lucid one moment, and la-la-land the next. It's a nightmare for the caregivers, often more than the patient.

And it's not the kind of thing you can DNR.

The SLG Art Boutiki has been a fucking bastion of all-ages live music in San José and I'm so fucking bummed it's finally closing down.

Here's a blog about what it meant to me and my band

Clearly this generation hasn't had enough Very Special Episodes of sitcoms. This is called "Sexual Assault".

If someone asks to see a part of your body that's normally covered by a swimsuit, you need to say "No" and "Go" and tell an authority figure.
Minnesota teen says server forced her to prove her gender in restaurant bathroom

The 18-year-old high school student alleged the server would not let her exit the Buffalo Wild Wings restroom until she unzipped her hoodie and showed she had breasts.

I hate this timeline. Trying to log in on bestbuy.com to get a UPS. Login, no matter what, says "something went wrong". Their chatbot and their phone support, when I ask for help with my account, tell me I can reset it myself. Calls for an agent hang up on me, or tell me to reset it myself.

My god "please sign in once in a while (and wait for us to mail you a 2fa code) so we don't delete your account" is such a shitty vibe.

I log into this when something you make breaks. If you expectation is that something of yours should be breaking more than once every six months, we need to talk.

@loresjoberg.bsky.social are your old bandwidth theater vids available anywhere? Google’s not being helpful.

Tech Rant: Procreate's iOS file storage is *terrible*.

It will not put your art in icloud, but in an on-device "blob" sandbox that the files app can't see.

it will block your ipad from being able to make backups, and put all your art at risk.

It will cause your ipad to lie about its storage used.

We need to have a word about how you do mail headers.

Why would you set your from: to info@dropout.tv (ostensibly a real email address), but then explicitly set a reply-to header that points at a “no reply” address?

If you’re gonna do that bullshit, why not just use that as the from?
