Nice! What does your pipeline look like to detect these kind of anomalies?

When consent is denied and the CMP(+ Consent Mode) is correctly integrated with the GA tagging, the GA tags won’t place any cookies in the user’s browser.

The session_id is usually persisted in a cookie (ga_<stream-id>) if consent is given.

So, no consent = session_id changes on new page loads.

Hence, I'd like to add two more use cases to the four-year-old list:

🔄 Enrichment: Transform your raw data in real time by combining it with external data sources, CRM information, or machine learning predictions before it reaches its destination.

Many of those are focused on enriching the clickstream collected by GA4 with data provided by GCP services or feeding a company's downstream systems in real-time. I believe GTM Server-Side has evolved from a mere data collection tool and is ready to become one's digital measurement headquarters.

But what if there's more to GTM Server-Side than "just" collecting more data, more than tweaking the data collection mechanism to be more compliant?

Since GTM Server-Side's release over four years ago, several new features have been introduced.

Control & Security abilities have mainly been used to either make data collection compliant with privacy legislations or result in companies trying to gain an advantage in the ever-evolving cat-and-mouse game between data collection platforms and browsers/ad blockers.

The technology could only partly deliver on the promise of improved page speed. Most marketing vendors still rely heavily on third-party cookies, which require the client-side library to be loaded to use all (remarketing) features of these platforms.

* Security: Secure your customer data by ensuring only authorized partners can access it.
* Control: Take charge of third-party tag behaviors through declared permissions, automated policies, and sandbox restrictions.
