#sblaar24 Just heard two dudes walking past my hotel room talking about "the girl with the big tits in *such and such* section." Male colleagues, are you calling out this language? What are you doing to make clear these comments are dehumanising and not welcome?

More than 90% of people in Asia have never read a single line of the Bible.

As an Indian biblical scholar, I have to keep reminding myself of this. If you’re working in Asia, you have to stay plugged into the wider humanities. You just can’t afford not to.

It took an enforced break from academia — from a seven-year long trek that took me from South India to Oxford via Jerusalem — to understand how hard thinking was on the body.
