This morning I had beautiful green vines growing inside of my bedroom window, sun was filtering through highlighting huge gorgeous wētā moving around in the vines. Was so disappointed when I came back with my cup of tea and opened the curtains and they were all gone. I want that dream made real.

I foolishly made a morning schedule that didn’t account for me needing to lie in bed for at least half an hour and then spend another half an hour slowly eating breakfast. This is a much better plan. Not sure about the 5.30 start though.

I am distraught. Was extreme weeding the top of my bank and accidentally uncovered a nest of baby birds. Have re-camouflaged it as best I can and retreated to the house. I hope parent birds feel safe enough to come back soon. TW nest full of baby birds, please be ok x

I cried most of the way through Prime Minister. It was grief. Grief for the events, for what we lost, but mostly for what Jacinda endured. So much respect for the imperfect results delivered with absolute integrity.
Two big takeaways from this:-
1) Our country, and the world, lost so much when she stepped down as Prime Minister. She was a shining example of how to lead with empathy.
2) She is doing more to advocate for New Zealand globally than Luxon could ever dream of doing.

I was waiting at the doctors with my mum for ages this afternoon. Instead of being frustrating, it was quite lovely. Sunshine streaming in, ok music and old magazines, including one featuring @kimtairi.bsky.social.

I’ve been using Estrogel to avoid the ups and downs I was getting with the patches. It’s a bit of a faff, but so far so good. The main issue is that the gel is ethanol so when I wake up my bedroom smells like I’ve been sipping gin all night.

Once the children were safe, my need to know anything immediately about the Marokopa situation ended. This endless shifting for details like we are crowd sourcing some kind of justice/understanding is unhelpful and potentially unhealthy.

I’ve lived in Aro Valley way too long to see this and not shudder. We could have told you that no upkeep, rain and wind makes shit grow on and in your buildings without the optimistic greenwashing.

I sold a concrete tub on trade me and put it just outside my gate for easier pick up. When the people came an hour later it was gone. A concrete tub, in the middle of a long set of Wellington steps, with no car access! Learned my lesson.

My cat wouldn’t shift off the pillow behind my head and her purring, random licking and lip smacking was keeping me awake. At 2 am I dragged her and the pillow she was on to the other side of the bed, she’s still there. Sound asleep. Bless her.

I asked the doc for pain relief for mums vag pessary fitting. Doc said ‘there is an anaesthetic gel that we use sometimes’ and shrugged. I said ‘do you think you can use some now then’ and Doc begrudgingly asked the nurse to get some. She knows mum experiences severe pain, why not offer up front?
