Nice little day out at Locomotion for the 200th birthday with a couple of colleagues. Some old, some new and some current stuff as well as a rail tour up to Stanhope and back from Carnforth

Anti-racist demonstrators blocking Tommy Robinson’s fascists from marching through the centre of Newcastle - successfully so far

But being kettled and apparently the police are agreeing an alternative route for the far right

The extremely rare sight of a Class 37 at NCL as it changes crew while running 2Z03 Glasgow Central to York Holgate.

The lesser spotted spare today so a few steps in round toon. The Stephenson monument on Neville St, very prominent given the 200th birthday of the railway as we know it is this Saturday, just across from the listed building of NCL Central. Likely be packed with Bradford fans in a few hours too!

Just caught a passing glimpse of Royal Scots Grey 50022 passing at Dunston this morning as I was on my way into work. Fabulous bit of kit looking resplendent. On its way back to Crewe after spending the weekend at Heaton for the depot open day

Spending the day with the inspiration train. Amazed that @geofftech.bsky.social isn’t here to spend the whole day playing with the slam doors 😅

Relaxing Sunday off for the annual end of season friendly. No whites worn this year to spare embarrassment, squeezed in 8000 steps wandering the boundary instead.

Back at it tomorrow volunteering on the @rail200.bsky.social Inspiration train at Darlington!

There are certainly worse views from an office window out there

A sunny (and on time) view of water next to rail along the Tyne Valley.

Just for @jenonthemove.com after the grey and frustrating trip a short while ago

I like this, however more emphasis needs to be placed on ‘the train pulls away from the platform at” rather than people thinking “I can board until”

The amount of late runners screaming obscenities at a slowly accelerating train is crazy.

Please just try to arrive in plenty of time 🙂

Nice day off yesterday and a trip to the #YorkIceTrail

Of course there would be trains involved as part of the 32 exhibits featuring Mallard, Grand Central and one reminiscent of Flying Scotsman!

Impressive work citywide and very busy too. Shame about the 0415 alarm today 😅

Great showing from the toon given how much bigger all of the other cities are. I like to think I do my bit to help keep them open ☕️🍩😅

The view from Plessey Viaduct on the ECML and and Northumberlandia (look it up for an aerial view and some history) on my first service of the day as 2A36 makes its way to Morpeth on board 158843

Held on the King Edward Bridge awaiting platform at Newcastle. Managed to capture some great lighting late in the evening across the #tyne showing most of the bridges in some way or the other.

Change to lates this week so bright lights replace sunshine. The approach to Newcastle from Sunderland via High Level Bridge means snaps of The Sage, Tyne Bridge, Swing Bridge, Millennium Bridge, St James Park and the city centre itself. Now time for a cuppa before my next service ☕️

First train of the day (GWR)

Over priced, over crowded, tap not working in the loo, no soap, and the toilet squirts out when flushed.

Privitisation ladies and gentleman...

And you want to give these vultures our NHS?
