Today I was so excited to attend a seminar at Tsinghua University, which was part of a course in the history of science that I didn’t have the chance to join.
Next to the seminar room, there was also an exhibition of some historical scientific instruments.

Had a great time at DH 2025. 😊
I met new friends with whom I share similar experiences or even mutual friends! I’m often surprised by finding out the unexpected friendships among my friends!!! 😂😂
I also attended inspiring talks by established scholars whom I admire very much.

Just watched a talk by Prof. Xiaoru Yuan on his group’s work, including ZuantuSet: A Collection of Historical Chinese Visualizations and Illustrations, in which I am especially interested. I also learnt about the Dunhuang manuscript P.2156, a visualisation of Buddhist concepts.

Yep. This website 古音小鏡 is really useful when studying Chinese linguistics and philology. I have no idea who developed it. Some pages on historical evolution of Chinese dialects use data visualisation techniques very effectively!

I read about this research on the history of visualization in the Chinese tradition, and became very interested.
The size of their database is impressive.
