I tried that and i didnt work very well. I was thinking about boiling them whole but im very impatient. I watched a video about how to open hard pumpkins which helped but eventually I got out the hammer.

Yes! I make puree with left over pumpkins my coworkers give me. The small one were so hard to open and dont have much flesh but I dont want any to go to waste. Ive already baked a small batch
