Renewables routinely generate more than half of U.K electricity.

They also generate thousands of jobs, reduce our exposure to volatile gas prices, and allow us to stick two fingers up to fossil-fueled dictators.

A sad day for climate action. Heathrow’s third runway getting government backing sends the message that airport expansion matters more than safeguarding our future. We need leadership that prioritises people and planet. #Climate

Heathrow's plan for longer third runway chosen by government
Under the selected plan, the runway would be up to 3.5km long and require a new road tunnel under the airport.

SAF promises have been missed for a decade. Current use is less than 0.01%. Scaling up risks deforestation and strains limited renewable energy.
The most reliable way to cut aviation emissions? Fly less.

The trouble with SAF
SAFs, or sustainable aviation fuels, are heralded by the aviation industry as the answer to carbon emissions. But is that the full story? Finlay Asher and Flight Free UK explain.

Start with fuel duty.
10p a litre for starters, then make it rise with inflation every year. Like public transport fares do.

Britain ran entirely on clean energy for 87 hours this year – a fiftyfold rise since 2021.

Proof that progress is real, even if there’s a long road to 2030’s clean-power target.

Dr Simon Evans reports.
Great Britain has run on 100% clean power for record 87 hours in 2025 so far
Clean-energy sources have powered Great Britain entirely for a record 87 hours this year — a milestone toward 2030 targets

So American pharmaceutical manufacturers are ganging up on UK by withdrawing investment because UK prices and their profits ‘too low’. I thought this was due to NHS being a huge buyer and able to negotiate good deals? Surely Trump should approve?

This is untrue on most major issues (though the media eıite don't know this). It is untrue on immigration in particular. Untrue on climate, on Trump, on human rights, on inciting racism. And much else

On C5 I have just seen an AI advert, offering guidance to ‘the human character’ on what hat to wear! FFS. This is all causing huge amounts of climate damage. Why are we doing this crap?

Politicians and airlines will tell you that airport expansion is good for the economy. But is it?

Airports take more money out of the UK than they bring in.

If anyone has a contact for those responsible for this building, we would ask that the scaffolding is removed straight away before the police are involved #hertsbirds

FFS - ignoring them doesn’t make them go away. And the vacuum is filled by ever more angry bile. Farage needs to be challenged at every step - the snake oil salesman who promised leaving the EU would “give us back control” (that went well) now promising that leaving the ECHR will do the same…
No10 spokesman not prepared to criticise anything about Farage speech today.

Not his description of "invasion", not his prediction that the UK on brink of civil war, not plans to pay the Taliban or Iran to take back migrants, or indeed to rule out doing so themselves.

Yep we are going to have exactly the same on Rye St in Bishop’s Stortford because Herts CC decided they knew best and put crossing in wrong place! @cyclestortford.bsky.social
Outside the red line of the application, the route requires three 90° turns to use a parallel crossing for the onward connection to get to the industrial estate.

Why is the UK so bad at this?

A day of shame, Farage is committed to going further than the NF and Mosley ever dared and the BBC are just aiding him.
Reform UK, which has a grand total of four MPs, was just given an uninterrupted platform for an hour and a half on the BBC and Sky News channels, in order to talk about its plans for mass deportations

When was the last time the Greens (with four MPs) or the Lib Dems (with 72) were given the same?
