support for LGBTQ+ folks. But I did not anticipate the new relevance of the 1981 "U.S. out of El Salvador," among others!

I am bringing the dups to my retirement party to present as party favors--and one way to picture me over the years.

One way I dealt with going online (almost) 5 yrs ago was to have this plaque & sword on the wall behind me.
And to dye my hair--usually a blue that I called "comic-book blue-black."
The pandemic isn't over. But I have retired & I am moving on to other colors.

First day of the spring semester.

For others.

Me, I am wearing my new socks.

My last class was last night. My fabulous students gifted me these (with a sweet card)!
I guess I dropped the f-bomb a few times this term?! 😉
I will put them on once grades are posted.
A bittersweet moment.

It's hard to believe some disgruntled worker with the Indianapolis Colts did not intend this graphic to convey other message.
It is a lovely long-sleeved official NFL gear that I got for donating blood several years ago.

55. It's been a good run.

OTD 25 years ago, I taught my 1st class here--U.S. History II.
Today, I start my last semester--w/ the same class!
Love the symmetry.
It's also Women's Equality Day & I end the thread with t-shirts in suffrage colors.

53. Embrace of its urban identity.

I know memory is fallible, but as I recall, when I got here, it was described as a "comprehensive urban university."
It's something else now, but I enjoy seeing an urban skyline on so many shirts recently.

52. History in t-shirts.

I got this one from a generous colleague--it's misleadingly "vintage."

IUPUI was originally the Metros--we weren't the Jaguars until 1997.

50. History in t-shirts.

Years of history. Years of stories. Years of urban legends (in all meanings of that phrase). Years of myths. I have been able to include only the tip of the iceberg.

49. The Tree Wardens of the Campus.

That's not their actual title--but the folks who protect the trees, work to get more of them, etc.
Enough work for us to be a Tree Campus.

One of my highlights has been to be on the hall w/ English Dept. colleagues---their good cheer & commitment to working with students on writing is a joy to behold,

The the events of 1973-75 must have caused consternation to those who gave a name to a school that could be abbreviated as SLA. I assume that's why always used the longer "Liberal Arts."

I remember when IFC voted for domestic partner benefits the deciding case was made by (straight) economists who bored everyone to death with the economic reasons for them.

Marker could have said they razed the school "and put up a parking lot”

15. Another hidden gem, the DNA Tower, a public sculpture by American glass artist Dale Chihuly,
consists of 1,200 blue, yellow, & pink spheres attached to a central core in a spiraling design that imitates the structure of DNA.
