The Storm Prediction Center just upgraded tomorrow's risk for parts of AL and MS to HIGH. 5 out of 5.

These are rare -- typically only issued about once or twice a year on average for the whole country. Multiple large, long-track tornadoes likely.

Warn any friends or family you have in this area.
March 14, 2025 at 5:49 PM
We'll be getting strong storms regardless on Sunday morning, likely from 2 AM to 8 AM.
Chris will have the full forecast later today on WYFF News 4.
March 14, 2025 at 3:21 PM
Followed by a few more possible tornadoes in Georgia late Saturday night/Sunday morning. The concern for us in the Upstate is that storms in Georgia hold together long enough to bring possible tornadoes our way. It doesn't look too likely, but there is a small chance...
March 14, 2025 at 3:21 PM
This will be a big outbreak. The parameters we often look at for severe storm/tornado potential are remarkably high for this event. MS/AL will likely get several long-track, intense tornadoes Saturday afternoon & evening...
March 14, 2025 at 3:21 PM
A stout low bringing today & tomorrow's severe weather outbreak is now producing a dust storm in TX/OK, visible from space...

👀Came across this yesterday on the trail at Paris Mountain: Looks like a lightning scar to me! ⚡️

You can see char marks on the edges of where the bolt rushed down the tree trunk. Pretty cool!

Filling in on the morning show tomorrow and Friday morning with your forecast on WYFF News 4.

This one is much larger than the Greenville County fire. It is visible on shortwave satellite imagery...

The smoke plume is also visible on our radar, too. Fire Weather WARNING continues until 10 PM. NO BURNING, NO SMOKING.
March 1, 2025 at 8:10 PM

A bittersweet forecast for me: My days here at WYFF News 4 are coming to an end.

My last day on-air here will be March 16th. I've got some career plans in the works that I'll be sharing soon. Take care of each other, and take care of the one & only planet we all love learning more about everyday.
February 21, 2025 at 3:24 PM
Quiet for now here at home: Here's a look at Lake Hartwell this morning. We're only getting rain from this, but it will be a lot, turning heavy at times.
On top of what we've seen already, 2-3" of more rain for most of the Upstate. Sydney has your full forecast at noon on

Strong low developing along the Gulf coast this morning with a large moisture plume ahead of it. A lot of rain for the South today as a result.

🌡️We knew yesterday would be warm, but holy cow: Broke the record high by FIVE degrees yesterday at GSP!

Staying noticeably warmer than average the rest of the week, cooling back down again by Monday:

Slowly turning away from winter and switching towards early spring next week in the South. Temperatures running 10-15° above normal for much of the region from this Sunday to next Wednesday.

This bucks the trend of anomalous cold we saw most of January. First full week of February looks quite warm.
January 31, 2025 at 3:07 PM
Most of it will move through tomorrow afternoon & evening. There might be a rumble of thunder or two, but no big thunderstorms. Roughly 0.5" of rain or less in total.
January 30, 2025 at 3:02 PM
Slowly coming out of the January igloo and shifting to early spring. Quick shortwave rolling across the South-Central States this morning. Bringing a good smattering of rain now, and will bring rain through the Carolinas tomorrow...
January 30, 2025 at 3:02 PM
As usual with winter storms in our area, where exactly the transition line from snow to ice sits will weigh a lot on exactly how much snow we get. Here's how it looks as of now:
January 9, 2025 at 5:15 PM
Snow totals are respectable: 2-3" for much of the Upstate. Closer to 2-6" across Western NC. Again, this can and probably will shift somewhat leading up to Friday afternoon. We'll keep you posted.
January 8, 2025 at 9:00 PM
A mix of snow and ice mostly South of roughly I-85, mostly just snow North of I-85. Impacts should be low to medium on the roads...

We're now within range of our higher resolution computer models. Here's how they look, and this is subject to change...
January 8, 2025 at 9:00 PM
It was a slightly more tame year for Greenville: 6th hottest year on record, and ranked 16th wettest for rainfall. Our 3-year long snow drought continues. We'll see if that lasts into this month!
January 2, 2025 at 3:25 AM
It was also the 3rd wettest year on record in Asheville, mostly due to Hurricane Helene -- 66.05" of rain. Here's a crazy stat: 14" of that, or 21% of it, fell in just THREE DAYS. Wow.
