Much better than stealing heavy stuff like gold. This way, you have less cargo.

Work (office/dept) Christmas meal today (yes, in November, early bird discount obvs...) sit down 2:30, and by 4:00 everyone is either off home or going back to the office.

When/how did I become the outlier?

This piece comes with the usual corporate/political bullshit line of "We have been working round the clock" - well, if you've got resources to work around the clock, have you thought of just sending someone to stand in the field 24/7 to catch the fly tippers?

It seems quite a lot of early morning cricket skeets have aged particularly badly. You can never judge a wicket until both sides have batted on it. First law of cricket.

Just had a new washing machine delivered (by the almost-forgiven people in the green and white lorries, but that's for another post)
Aside from the question of why they send out actual stickers for energy efficiency, why do I have Brexiteer and Remainer versions?

2:20am and I'm sat in the kitchen eating a can of beans so I can take some paracetamol. Meanwhile the cats have demanded food, and now want letting out.
How's your Saturday night going?

If there's anything worse than Untappd going down in the middle of a beer festival, I've not experienced it yet.

Finally made it to Brew York.

Welcome to the "real time track and trace service" that can't update me with anything better than "sorry we're running late" for nearly three hours...

Do better DHL.

It says something* about progress in the crazy world of backyard ultra running, that it's not even worth checking the leaderboard until Wednesday these days.

*I'm not sure what that something is

Can we please stop "Technology Consultants" talking with "Computer Science Experts" and calling it informed news, when clearly neither know what they're talking about?

Well, it was an interesting first day back from leave. If AWS could manage not to break things in Diwali in future, that would be appreciated.

There is something comforting about a hotel cat. Hotels should make more of it. Like "choose theae sunbeds as this is where the cat(s) come by most often." Or making cat treats a room service option.

(yes, I've just had a fleeting glimpse of one of this hotel's feline inhabitants and I want more)

I'm all for the tradition of a pint at the airport, but this is brutal at 4:30am

I'm old.

Do me a favour? Give your pets an extra fuss tonight. You never know how long you have left with them.

Track Brewery Tap, Manchester. Today it seems to be a very strange mix of people in full Oktoberfest dress, and people who've just finished a 76km peak district ultra in horrific conditions.

Saturday trains (in the north) are so much busier than even rush hour weekday trains.

Definitely time to start moving engineering works to midweek.

They should strip South Tyneside of the GNR finish until they figure out how to run a transport system. Utter shambles.
September 7, 2025 at 3:42 PM
The Metro being a shambles on GNR day. You could almost put your house on it.
