I suppose I'm woke. 🏳️‍🌈
Totally disillusioned by modern politics from all ends of the spectrum
Today I turned 57, I've now reached the age my dad was when he died of a heart attack
If I make it to new year's eve I'll have matched him exactly in years and days
If I wake up on new year's day I'll have beaten him
It's such a strange feeling of a need to beat him

Trip out to Playa Blanca in Lanzarote today.
Stumbled across this abandoned hotel out in the middle of nowhere overlooking the sea
The homeless have taken over some of the rooms of this vast building

So during the local elections, Reform said they would fight to keep the Staffordshire Moorlands part of Staffordshire County council and not merge with Stoke on Trent.
What a surprise, they have said they aren't against it now
That's two promises broken already

I'm currently on holiday and I have been phoning my mum's care to check on her
Today they asked if I would like to speak to her
Me "Hi mum I hope everything is ok I'm on holiday so I'll see you soon"
Mum "You bastard when I get my hands on you I'll rip out your eyes & shove them up your shitty arse"

Nigel Farage looks uncomfortable as Jamie Raskin uses his opening statement to absolutely demolish him

Today I had my blood pressure review
It's crept up to 131/87
I need to make lifestyle changes apparently
So I walk 3 miles every lunchtime, I run 3 miles at the gym 4 times a week, eat loads of fruit and veg and I have 2 glasses of wine twice a week
I need to cut out the binge drinking apparently

Found this photo of my mum and my late father when they were courting
It upset me a bit as it was two people with their whole life's ahead of them but 27 years later my dad was dead and my mum no longer knows who anyone is because of Alzheimer's
Such a cruel disease robbed her of these memories

I had a letter today from Reform asking for my vote on 1st May.
Firstly my name was spelt wrong and secondly it's arrived a day late.
Oh well I suppose it's the thought that counts

In this world of rising prices it's always good to see a bargain

Today I had 2 packs of incontinence pants delivered for my 81 year old mum.
They were left behind the bins by the side of my house.
They were delivered at 16:00 and I get home at 17:00 to find the bins moved and pants gone.
I hope whoever stole them gets some use from them

Yesterday my 81 year old mum received a tax bill for £1538.
Due, apparently, to the freezing of the personal allowance under the conservatives.

Well last week I had to make the decision to put my mum into a care home
A UTI over Christmas accelerated her dementia and left her unable to walk
One day we were shopping and walking around a park feeding ducks, 2 days later she was in hospital and been there ever since
How quickly life can change

Went to visit my mum in hospital today, she's 81.
A lovely lady in the bed opposite started to chat with me and then said it was nice I have come to visit my sister.
"Do I look that old?" I asked .
She didn't respond.
Don't you just love them

Well every day is a school day
My mum has been in hospital since new year's eve, she started out with a UTI and now has complications with her Alzheimer's and vascular dementia meaning she can't walk
I have visited her in the day and she has been fine, at night she is vile.
Sundowning apparently

Bugger
January 7, 2025 at 8:11 AM
So my mum has had to go into hospital after she became very ill over Christmas.
She has Alzheimer's and I've been given some forms about becoming a full time carer for her.
If I pack in work I can claim £69.70 a week
How the hell is that going to pay my bills

Odd place for a bus stop.
I know I'm in Stoke but the people here aren't that lazy
January 5, 2025 at 3:29 PM
Haha, so Elon Musk doesn't think Nigel Farage is upto the job and Reform needs a new leader.
All that arse kissing to get $100m worked well then

Another cold lunchtime walk, looks like a storm is brewing

Lunchtime walk on a very nippy day

My 81 year old mum is seriously poorly, she can't stand or move her legs.
I phoned for and ambulance at 15:00 and I've just been told to expect an ambulance tomorrow lunchtime.
This bloody country

My 81 year old mum has had a fall at home, isn't making any sense and can't stand.
I've phoned for an ambulance and been told 10hrs wait.
I do hope labour can fix the NHS because it really is broken
December 31, 2024 at 4:12 PM
Took my mum out for a drive today and we went past a field of sheep
"Look at all those" she said
"What are they?" I asked
She took a while and then said "Pelicans" she then got upset so I said "They are clouds with legs"
She laughed and then said
"You daft sod they are sheep"
Bloody Alzheimer's

Me and my 81 year old mum.
She's got Alzheimer's and vascular dementia, sometimes she knows who I am and other times she doesn't, I'm not sure she even what Christmas is now but every so often the mother I knew from when I was younger reappears
