President Claudia Sheinbaum warns the US against invading Mexican territory to fight cartels:

"This cannot be an opportunity for the U.S. to invade our sovereignty," she said. "With Mexico it is collaboration and coordination, never subordination or interventionism, and even less invasion."

The DOGE firings have nothing to do with “efficiency” or “cutting waste.” They’re a direct push to weaken federal agencies perceived as liberal. This was evident from the start, and now the data confirms it: targeted agencies overwhelmingly those seen as more left-leaning. 🧵⬇️

Unsolicited film review: Sing Sing is a beautiful, uplifting movie that speaks to the power of art and the resiliency of the human spirit--specifically as it relates to those serving lengthy prison sentences. I defy you to come away from this film unmoved. Should've been a Best Picture nominee!

in what meaningful way can we say that the constitution is in effect when an unelected and unaccountable billionaire is wielding state power to unilaterally cancel congressional appropriations?
Hearing that DOGE went into the Dept of Education today and shut down almost the entirety of the department's in-house research arm, Institute of Educational Sciences, cancelling contracts totally about $900m.

The president's new EO promotes "patriotic education."

What would that mean? A return to what James Loewen described in his textbook critique, their approach to patriotism "converts textbooks into anti-citizenship manuals — handbooks for acquiescence." ⬇️

White America claims to hold two things dear: the values of the Christian faith and the democratic ideals of our government. But for too many white people, it's all lip service.

What white America really holds dear and wants to preserve is one thing: White America.

Meanwhile, in Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum: “Let it be heard loud and clear: we are not going to return to the regime of corruption and privileges...where the government was for a few... we will continue with Mexican Humanism and with the maxim of ‘For the good of all, the poor first.’”
