That's also a tactical question about fulling committing to the double pivot in build up and having the 8 drop in 🤷‍♂️

Semenyo would make a fantastic CB so it makes all the sense in the world
November 12, 2025 at 4:21 PM
Definitely agree it wasn't about one player, but I do think we were out-thought tactically
November 11, 2025 at 8:48 PM
For me, the big difference was the role and the resulting midfield overload that made me sad 😔

To be totally clear, I think it's understandable to mess up recruitment. Recruitment is hard. The point is now what do you do about it? Now the head coach earns his money. He has the intelligence, experience, and temperament to do it.

I've bitten my tongue long enough. It was a poorly conceived idea. Wonderful individual pieces, but no coherence. As Kev says, maybe it makes more sense with future purchases.

I love spreadsheets more than most, but I will argue with my last breath that:
"oh but the xG" &
"oh but Konaté's progressive passing numbers"
is a profound misreading of the game. We were completely dominated in the first half, after which City sat back, and just played to counter our moves.

How things played out was unlucky. That they played out was not.

Why buy Kerkez as a sitting LB?
Can Isak link play in the way we need?
How do you progress the ball from the back?
Why buy all these progression via carry players if you don't want to progress via carry?
Why buy players who all want to be in the same part of the pitch?
& everything else

😞

So why wait until halftime to make the tactical adjustment?
November 11, 2025 at 4:15 PM
And lost some of the opening games where the luck went out way 🤷‍♀️
November 11, 2025 at 4:12 PM
If we're in truth-telling mode, I think it's indisputable there was a plan. That plan was 4231 with the LB sitting and Wirtz as the 10. Isak starting. Ekitike as backup. Tell me with a straight face that wasn't the plan.
November 11, 2025 at 4:11 PM
Like I just said to Kev, we idiot fans were having this exact conversation in the summer. That's not great.
November 11, 2025 at 3:36 PM
Other than blindfolding the players & telling them the game is at Anfield 🤔

January will be interesting. Maybe that's when we really get to see if there is a plan or not. If he just sticks Chiesa at RW and nothing else changes, that will be telling.

If we sign a CB, that will tell us a lot.
November 11, 2025 at 3:35 PM
That's what I was sort of trying to say yesterday in my own clumsy way 😞

It's so infuriating listening to Transfer Flow and all these other Experts talking about Liverpool's problems--when these are all the problems we idiot fans identified in the summer!
November 11, 2025 at 3:21 PM
& you know we agree as always!

That said, we haven't yet seen this lineup against garbage ball, and I do think it's susceptible to a team that can attack down our left against Wirtz-Macca-Robbo, and force us to build up from our right with Konaté-Bradley-Grav.
November 11, 2025 at 3:07 PM
In one game we controlled the middle; in the other we did not 🤷‍♀️
