You read that right, and I am not exaggerating.⤵️

A shipwrecked person beckoning others to come rescue them is a basis for killing them.

The term isn’t used loosely at all. Technically if you want to be maximally pedantic there’s a slice of Western Europe and Western Africa as well as far eastern Russia and some Pacific Islands are between the Prime Meridian and the 180th Meridian.

But politically it always means the Americas.
