It's unlikely you'd ever get rid of a Google email. Most likely you'd want a Google account still. Through email forwarding you can still get the emails in your new email address, and setting up auto-reply to notify of your new email address you can direct people to the nicer email service.

It may be worth trying Inkscape's trace bitmap feature. It's generally pretty good, but you'll likely need to play with it a bit to get the right result.
