A lot of people think writing is supposed to be easy. Even when proven wrong. That's why so many spiral and refuse to practice and grow, getting stuck on the same project, nitpicking individual scenes ad nauseum instead of finishing the book and moving on. #WriteTheGoodWrite

Got about 1,700 today! New WIP is already past 10K. I’m trying VERY hard not to repeat the same mistakes I made last time. You know what they say. Fail better next time.

My writing group is constantly confused by the "level of tech" in my stories. Obviously it's "any tech that I feel like at that particular moment so long as it doesn't break the world building or other systems" level.

Expedition 33 minor SPOILERS uses narrative structures to make the player feel uneasy or even unsatisfied. There are things I honestly disliked while playing but in retrospect I respect from a writing standpoint. It was aware of its limitations and used that against the player.

At some point you just have to trust yourself. In my head the scene I wrote last night was going to push 3k words and completely screw up the pacing of the book. I was DREADING it. When it came time though I did it in a tight 600.

I’ve had a strong case of Aphantasia my whole life. Yet the last few nights I’ve had the most vivid dreams. More vivid than I honestly thought possible. It’s like when I learned that when people say “it’s like a movie or play in my head” they were being sincere.

I’ve had a strong case of Aphantasia my whole life. Yet the last few nights I’ve had the most vivid dreams. More vivid than I honestly thought possible. It’s like when I learned that when people say “it’s like a movie or play in my head” they were being sincere.
On a short vacation with the family. Decided to also take a break from writing in the hopes I can come back more focused. I’ve read hundreds of pages. HUNDREDS. I forgot what it’s like to be able to just READ. I think I forget this is the feeling I want to instill in people as a writer.

My production has been down because I can't figure out what I WANT to write. It used to be so easy. Now I keep writing stuff that's... "good"... but it doesn't feel meaningful.

Peter David was a behemoth in nerd culture. His contribution to any IP was always stellar. He wrote some of the best Star Trek and Marvel stories out there plus so many others. But my favorite of his works will probably always be Fallen Angel.
