Wollongong Council voted against putting the nets back in but they were overruled by Chris Minns who can't stand a bad headline. Now we've heard it cost the Council more than $44k to dispose of the carcass! Who should pay this bill?

Chris Minns needs to act. If his anti-democratic, anti-protest laws can’t stop the disgraceful and shocking neo-nazi rally outside NSW Parliament yesterday what the hell were they introduced for? 🤔🤬

Really? To many of us the weekend was proof that, as we warned at the time, they’ve allowed some police officers to abuse their powers and target progressive/left/pro-Palestinian causes.

Minns said at that time that the laws were drafted in response to "appalling racial hatred" targeting the Jewish community but would apply to anyone.

"In response to calls for the laws to be scrapped, doing so would be a toxic message to our community that this kind of hate speech is acceptable when it's not.”

He said: “Our laws criminalised intentionally and publicly inciting hatred towards another person, or group, based on race.

"They send a clear message: the people of New South Wales stand together against inciting racial hatred in our great multicultural state.
