Made a TikTok video essentially crying about the state of the NHS and the needless deaths, felt embarrassed about it but posted anyway. It went viral. EveryDoctor campaign is suddenly receiving this tidal wave of support. Just had call from one of biggest tv programmes in UK…

This government is increasingly becoming a shit show.

Not content with arming a genocide in Gaza, nor protecting the wealth of the super rich - they're now seriously considering further austerity through cuts.

It's so out of touch with where people are at & what we need.

The first-past-the-post (#FPTP) voting system was first introduced in the Nineteenth Century.

It’s now way past-time to have a voting system fit for the multi-party politics of the 21st Century.

The serious point about how chaotic our electoral system would be at converting current vote shares in the polls into seats is that this (a) shows why MRPs (and similar) are so useful, and (b) why now would be a very good time for the media to get much better at understanding MRPs. E.g. you...

The Lib Dems operate a one member one vote on policy at conference.

Unlike Labour who give some members a vote!

Labour members voted overwhelmingly for #ProportionalRepresentation as party policy.

@Keir_Starmer “It’s not a priority”
“It’s not party policy.”

🚨 When Justin Trudeau resigned, he said he regretted keeping First Past the Post in place.

We're writing to Keir Starmer to warn him not to make the same mistake.

Sign our open letter to the PM and tell him: back PR before it's too late. 📝

UK law on political donations is weak.

It can't prevent foreign/dirty money from funding politics.

It enables the rich/corporations to hijack politics;

It can't prevent Elon Musk from funding right-wing parties.

Must ban all donations - cleanse politics.

How our democracy has been hijacked by corporations and wealthy elites
The only effective remedy is to ban all private donations, or bribes, to political parties.

It was the one thing he had to do…..
BREAKING: Canadian PM Justin Trudeau resigns saying that his one regret is failing to introduce voting reform.

This should be a lesson for Starmer's government.

The majority of the UK agrees that FPTP isn't working. Labour must have the courage to take bold action and back PR.

Hi Victoria, I’m a survivor of child trafficking & rape from the early 90s. I was part of the IICSA report.

People who are focusing on a small minority of perpetrators are making a mockery of all child abuse survivors. We’re not their political footballs. www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/people/...

Richie Barlow, who runs The Dog Walker, has written a book about his traumatic childhood. It’s a story of inner strength against the odds and hope in dark times. Laura Reid reports.

1) Establish a National Commission on Electoral Reform.
2) Close donation loopholes and strengthen the Electoral Commission.
3) Require transparency in handling of 'legal but harmful' content. 👍

"There is no solution to the crisis in the NHS that doesn’t include a solution for social care."

Dismayed to see Wes Streeting acknowledge this - yet kick the issue into long grass with a commission that won't report until 2028.

What hope for the NHS now?

What hope for those needing care now?

99% losing against the 1%, when you do get some sort of vote every 4-5 years is ludicrous really.

#GreatReformAct
We must start uniting around shared class. It literally is a class war - 99% vs 1%. We must stop allowing culture wars to divide us and must unite around economic justice.

1. The implicit deal behind Starmerism was this: you might not like what he stands for (or fails to stand for), but at least he knows how to win elections. If you want the Tories out, he’s your only hope.
But now? It’s as if he’s going out of his way to lose in 2029. 🧵
