You know, it’s common among us progressives down here in the south to compare your home province to Texas, but even then it kind of seems like Alberta still winds up being far less batshit than Texas.
Texas is a national embarrassment to this nation. It’s sad to me that we ever accepted them .

This has been such a sad story to watch and with the assault on higher education by the fascists destroying America and the dual problems of both affordability and a declining birth rate (which is good and bad), we’re going to be seeing more stories like this.

I haven’t seen polling but in a free for all like this you can see some surprising results.

My girlfriend wanted Starbucks when we were in Niagara Falls this summer. Despite being mad at them I honored her request. It felt weird going to one in Canada instead of to a Tim’s.
Baristas at that store did seem heavily worked but they were all nice.

Who were you working for? Chain or indie business? (I count small chains in just a small area as indie businesses)

I didn’t like tipping in those situations but lately I’ve been doing it more for a dumb reason: my OCD prefers rounded transactions ($10 or $10.XX vs $8.79 or some shit).
I know, not really the right reason, but I guess I am tipping now.

They have actually posed the idea. But it’s only ever progressed to an idea.
Honestly, they need it. The traffic in that town is insane. And I blame the traffic for cutting short what ended up being my final in person visit with one of my best friends before he died a few months later. 💔

City leaders in each place would never be bold enough to do it but the density, destinations and base ridership are all there and CATA Route 1 is the system’s busiest.

I thought for a while now that my hometown of East Lansing, Michigan (home of Michigan State University) and adjacent Lansing could use a streetcar line between the state capitol and at least the western edge of downtown EL, if not all the way to the east end of campus.

You know, you look and sound like you should be in Congress. If this doesn’t work out for you with the giant field you’re competing with, keep trying!

I’ve gotten straight angry at a lot of the texts. Apparently some of the automated programs know to factor that into their code too. I posted this a while ago but this feels like a good place to drop this exchange from Seth Moulton’s campaign I got recently. 👇

Tesla engineer was concerned about known thermal runaway problems in the batteries, elon and his head of security concoted a mass shooter threat pretending to be him, leaked it to the press and got a bolo issued to tried to get him swatted, Elon then stiffed his head of security

there's nothing to be said. Dems did the wrong thing. Some people are going to die either way and it's important not to be complicit in the murder.
Let the GOP kill their own people a little, as a treat.

I’ve always hated it. I shouldn’t, but I do. Italian side of my roots I suppose.
I’ve effectively accepted it in spite of this though. Even in the hell of Ohio, I still feel like the people and the governments up here are still superior to anything in the south.

First statement is definitely true for the UP. The trolls of us had/have it easier… a bit.
And yes, you respect the lakes. Their Greatness stands as much for their power (and majesty, too, yes) as anything else.
