We have all become addicted to drama, scandal & hyperbole. Some of us are trying to wean ourselves off it & focus on stuff like this. But it can sometimes feel like being a vegetarian at a barbecue.
At the risk of sounding like a government spokesperson, I wonder if we're too gloomy. NHS waiting times are falling, as are net migration numbers. Growth hasn't been fast, but it's improved. Real wages are growing. Inflation is a bit sticky, but much reduced.

Reform MP Lee Anderson has unveiled his education plan: “The Union Flag at every school and sing the national anthem every day.”

Good thinking, Lee. That will make the UK competitive on the international stage.

🔴 BREAKING: "European youngsters will be able to move to the UK for more than a year under a youth mobility scheme, the minister in charge of Britain’s relationship with the EU has indicated."

This is excellent news for young Brits going to Europe too.

It drives me nuts. The Telegraph, Mail, Sun etc and the politicians they sponsor like Johnson, Farage, Cameron & Truss got everything they wanted for fourteen of the last fifteen years & only now, with Labour in power for *less than one*, do they acknowledge the damage they have done. It’s sick.

John Prescott’s coffin has arrived at Hull Minster for his funeral. Appropriately, the hearse was a Jag, as is the family’s car.

Cuba is a Socialist country and one of the poorest in the world suffering under a 60+ year economic blockade by the richest country in the world.

Guess which one has better healthcare, life expectancy, literacy, lower infant mortality and every type of crime.

It ain't the USA.

The fact that Elon Musk wanted to give Nigel Farage and Reform UK $100m but couldn't because it was illegal should be the death of Reform, who supposedly are all about sovereignty and the 'working' man.

But it won't be because they are all stupid.

Ok I will admit that I was VERY hesitant to get on a new social media platform. I already have like 6 and honestly the internet isn't that fun these days, but I have to admit I'm really enjoying Bluesky!

Please consider sharing this post to help me grow my Bluesky audience to match the rest!

So I've landed on Bluesky having migrated from eX. And so far - it looks good. A lovely world of people with sound opinions and nice photos of the cosmos to look at. And I see most of my favourites are here too, like James O'Brien, Peaklass, BRAPA and even Alastair Campbell's Tree of the Day.
