I love the idea of a think tank's president using the excuse of "lotta news in the world, no one can actually keep up."
Kevin Roberts, the president of the Heritage Foundation, faced blowback after defending Tucker Carlson's interview with a white nationalist. He later apologized and said he erred out of ignorance, because he did not keep up with the news and had simply read an aide’s script.

we need to find Prominent Baseball Man and throw him into a volcano. it probably won't work, but I'm out of ideas.
Sometimes you run across an old quote that stops you cold. From a Jayson Stark article in January 2000:

Not that I had any doubt, but it’s pretty clear this weenie has never had to care for a feverish kid at night. Ibuprofen can get you six hours of sleep if you’re lucky. Acetaminophen can’t.
JD Vance calls ibuprofen "useless medication" and implies it's not "necessary, safe and effective."

Hunter Fence, Hunter Whence, and Hunter O'Gainst were also considered.
As mentioned in last night’s story, and as our Mitch Bannon confirms, Toronto Blue Jays assistant hitting coach (and former minor league coordinator) Hunter Mense is joining Tony Vitello’s staff in San Francisco. www.nytimes.com/athletic/679...
Buster Posey: Giants will spend, but improvement must come from within
Good vibes are good. They can be the final piece. They are also difficult to maintain when you don't have enough talent.

i'm going to be thinking about "double debacle" for the rest of my life
On lot after a Phish show a few years ago. Guy had a French bread pizza in one hand and a beer in the other. Drops the pizza, tries to catch it with his other hand and spills the beer all over himself. Dude from across the lot sees the whole thing and yells, “double debacle! Fucking bullshit!!”

Both feet zipped 90º to the right. I was parallel to the ground, in the middle of one of the coolest moves ever attempted, but then I used my elbow to break the fall. I was probably going to spin on it to complete the move.
So, like, you wobbled, stumbled and fell? Or was it more of a "WHOOOOOOP"-style sideways slide to the floor? Backwards slide? Just trying to picture it correctly.

One time I jumped up to get closer to the TV during an exciting baseball game, and my pandemic-worn slippers went out from under me, and I broke my elbow. I filed the game story with one arm, my bloody sock gamer.

This is horrible, the general election is in one week. I wish there were some kind of magic spell to postpone the general. Then we could redo the primary, which would give everyone time to find someone who wasn't a Blackwater guy with Nazi tattoos. But this is the real world.
A survey, conducted on behalf of the Democratic group EMILYs List and obtained by POLITICO, finds that most voters wouldn’t support Platner over Republican Sen. Susan Collins after learning of his past social media posts

"'Stargate: The Ark of Truth,' for sure, along with 'Stargate: Continuum'," he said.

"I consider the best parts of 'Stargate SG-1' and 'Stargate Atlantis' to be pure cinema, so those are the other two. I haven't seen the original Stargate yet, though. People keep telling me to check it out."

Slightly related: I would pay at least a dollar extra for every Amazon order if I knew that it was going toward things like "liveable wages" and "not working warehouse workers to death." Two dollars extra. Hell, five dollars. Call it the woke tax and let people opt out of it, I don't care.

People on here will tweet anything. 'Rob Manfred has an army of murderous goons.' No he doesn't. That isn’t true.
These new details from last summer's confrontation between Rob Manfred and Bryce Harper are absolutely insane.

MLB officials threatening players will "end up in a ditch" for disrespecting Manfred is outrageous behavior.
