I need to visit - I've always noticed this church when driving to Temple Newsam. Superb building!

Sounds good. I really liked the Cello Concerto on JW's Walton disc. The Symphony is exciting and well-played but I wanted more oomph and bass to the sound - a drier acoustic might have helped.

One of the greatest covers albums ever. It should be better known.

I can remember LB being quite short and stocky. I started queuing for the arena at 1.30pm and still ended up in the gallery. Mahler 5 with the Vienna Philharmonic - he was in his element.

I've just leafed through it so far - you get a sense of how intelligent and articulate he was. I saw him conduct at the Proms in 1988 - still the best concert I have ever been to.

It's an extraordinary tale. Craig Brown's Beatles biography introduced me to the Jimmy Nichol story. Hisvertiginous rise to megastardom and back down to obscurity must have been mentally exhausting.

Great tom toms, and a beautiful horn solo at the end of the slow movement. But a very dark piece!

I missed the final episode back then. At last I can get some closure.

I like the orchestrated additions to Le Tombeau de Couperin very much. Getting the discs out of he packaging is quite a task...

Tove J was a genius. As was writer and artist Mervyn Peake, whose Gormenghast is really something. He also illustrated ‘Alice’.

Extraordinary artwork. Have you seen the Tove Jansson illustrations for Alice in Wonderland?
