This is what my senator Thom Tillis emailed me back after nearly 2 weeks of daily calls about DOGE (I’ve emailed in the past so I’m not surprised they have me in their database as a frequent contact lol). Answered none of my questions. So the calls continue!
Email from a Senator stating “Thank you for contacting me about the Department of Government Efficiency. I appreciate hearing from you. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is a division within the President's executive office tasked with looking out for American taxpayers by eliminating waste. The Department of Treasury has updated Congress with the following information: There has been no suspension or rejection of any payment instructions submitted to Treasury by other federal agencies across the government. DOGE representatives are limited to read-only access, the same access Treasury provides auditors. The Department of Government Efficiency is conducting the effort in coordination with veteran career Treasury officials, and all operational processes continue to be conducted by career staff in accordance with all security, safety, and privacy standards. The actions of all those reviewing the system will be documented and monitored by Treasury Department officials. I support President Trump’s effort to eliminate waste and improve government services intended to serve Americans, and I agree that the security and data privacy of all Americans must be protected at all costs. I’ve worked on several initiatives signed into law that expanded Americans’ protections following data breaches and invested in our nation’s cyber infrastructure. The ever-increasing rate of cybersecurity incidents shows that companies and the federal government, including DOGE, must do more to protect Americans’ data.”

I was feeling a little hopeless tonight after doom scrolling through the news but I know this is the playbook. Overwhelm us until we give up. So, I pulled out the phone and let my elected officials hear from their “favorite constituent” 😉 And now I will crawl into bed and dissociate with a book 📚
