Yes! Although I thought I knew a good deal about the colonial history of this place before coming, the sheer boldness of the white Australia policy and subsequent institutional racism was still a shock to me. And how recent and current it still is really. Solidarity to you too.

As a relatively new migrant I needed to learn this I'll admit. As Irish people we have some sense but as white migrants we are often as blind as the rest of them. I'm sorry that was the response you got & that you have had to carry the burden of educating people on something that should be so obv.

Definitely! The weather has "cooled" a little here so the beach was empty. By Irish standards, perfectly pleasant :-).
