and we get the environmental policy shifts many of us had hoped for at the last election.

My hopes anyhow. Carney knows the urgency for climate action, so this makes sense. But of course, he is not showing his hand, so we will all have to see.

Thanks @maxfawcett.bsky.social for your analysis.

And this could also pull support in Carney's direction from the moderate Conservatives.
My hope is this would keep/push PP further to the right with no where really to go.
And of course quiet Smith, working in her favor as well, with support from her base.

BC and First Nations will not be on board. Business knows this.

And yes, liberals may lose some of last the support from the last election, going back to the NDP, which is good, we need that left balance back.

I didn't like this at first either, but after reading Max's article and thinking further, I think I may like it. There will be no private sector proponent. so no pipeline. Too many lawsuits and protest blocks to slow it right down.

Ugh, no! I imagine this would get tied up in the courts? (ie cost $) Plus more tax dollars funding the militarized police that will be sent to protect foreign corporate interests (who won't want media or protest attention and delays.) Can we just save the time and $ and stop talking about it?

this is so sad especially since this was such an opportunity to diversify the income for CP and create something so much better for Canadians.

this is what I was thinking when I heard about the soybean farmers and that Bessent called himself a farmer (he's not a farmer)
Sooner or later many farms will have to be sold off or sell parts of their land and there will be, of course, billionaires ready to buy it.
