KU promises that students may apply for GIA in ANY hall on campus. This semester, they told GP residents that they will be revoking our GIA rooms for the following year, despite many students already signing contracts.

Want to live elsewhere on campus? If you identify as LGBTQIA+, but don't want to live in the Rainbow Community, you can request a gender inclusive assignment in any hall.

Transgender Students at KU could risk eviction by using the restroom that corresponds to their gender identity.

Check the Linktree for updates. We are currently running an email & call campaign. We will be protesting on Wednesday the 26th (more on that to come!)
Why is this bad? Many trans residents can only attend college because they live in GP. Bathroom enforcement will lead to violations being handled by IRS and the student conduct process. With enough reports, a trans student could be kicked out How to help: Become informed by reading the articles released by the UDK and Lawrence Times. "the university of Kansas is Threatening Housing for Transgender Students" on February 6th: "KU housing informed GP residents that the hall would not have GIA spots starting Fall 2025. For GP residents who want to keep a gender inclusive assignments KK would have 'some' spots open or they could leave the Scholarship halls" On February 13th: "KU student housing responded to resident concern via an email that doubled down, including encouraging students and staff to report 'improper' bathroom use" History of GIA in GP: "GP has had a strong history of transgender residents since 2020. In 2023 Residents were told by housing staff that gender inclusive assignments were available upon request"
