Just realised I wrote underground twice/o\

reTHAWed is for American wasteland

Sadly never heard of any mods for the console versions :c
July 24, 2025 at 3:26 AM
There's a few others for other games but these are the most active ones afaik

Not rom hacks but there's mods for a bunch of the PC ports.

Main ones are thug pro which is basically everything from all the games ported into the underground 2 engine with a focus on freeplay and multiplayer.

Then there's reTHAWed which is similar but for underground 2 but more casual focused.

I won't lie seeing this was most of the motivation behind my post c:

At least I assume GCU's Bluetooth side is handled the same as proGCC with passing inputs across from the rp2040 to the esp32 side.

Oh yeah I do get that, I'm just kind of thinking out loud on here of approaches in my head.

Also if you were gonna make a Wii back end for GC ultimate you would be looking to make it work on ESP32 so getting it on those would be a common goal for both ideas.
March 23, 2025 at 11:30 PM
It'd be a really dumb approach to this but I do have an old RPi3 in a drawer collecting dust, this could be bodged into a very over engineered and power hungry adapter.
March 23, 2025 at 11:22 PM
Won't lie at least from a quick scan much of how this doing what it's doing is going over my head.
I get functionally what it's doing but I don't think I have the knowledge to port this work elsewhere.
March 23, 2025 at 11:22 PM
It sounds like the simplest approach in my head but yeah a proper back end in HOJA would be cool.
From some digging I'm not finding anything for connecting to a Wii either.
Everyone wants to use a Wii remote for DIY stuff but not make one...
March 23, 2025 at 11:12 PM
Not an expert at the software side of this but I've managed to make stuff like this work in the past.
I could definitely wire up a GCC port to a pico W and 3D print a little shell though.
March 23, 2025 at 11:02 PM
Wanted to make the ultimate TO box for turning on wiis a while ago and I think being able to control the system menu would be a neat edition too.
March 23, 2025 at 11:00 PM
If any libraries exist to connect a pico W to a Wii I think it wouldn't be too hard for me to make a GCC to Wii adapter with some spare parts lying around.

Tbf I have some random old esp32s lying around as well idk if the old joybus arduino library can run on those though. Never tried it.
March 23, 2025 at 11:00 PM
This is cool to see implemented but also oh god no please don't release this /o\

As someone who's run a bunch of netplay tournaments I know this would spiral out of control.

Because of scheduling you may only sign up to melee OR rivals, not both! If this changes I'll post an update.
