During Covid my son knew how babies were made, but kept making stupid 69 jokes without knowing the context bc his friends did. But his little brother was a toddler and never napped and we were always together. So little bro finally fell asleep in a car ride and I had him trapped and told him (cont)

And the answer so many people are landing on is that no, we can’t puncture the bubble of delusion people have built up. And this gets precisely to the dynamic around who needs to have “hard” or “hurtful” conversations about things we know to be true, like climate change and homophobia in society, and whose fantasies we must indulge at every cost.
The actual finding here is that a huge percentage of the population believes things that are not true. Democrats objectively did not spend significant time on climate change or LGBTQ issues in the last election campaign.
Duh. Those of us on the ground last year actually speaking with middle class/working class voters and who heard from these voters every single day the same - “Trump is an asshole, but Democrats are out of touch” - could’ve saved my new political party a lot of time & money producing this “report.”👇
