They all went by Gordon, though, like my dad & grandpa did, whereas I've always gone by Gord.

(For that matter, my son's first name is Gordon, named after my dad, though he goes by his middle name.)

LOL I don't know that I've earned the definite article, but there's been a few of us, including the bassist for a Scottish rock band called Beggars Opera (though I see now he passed a year ago) and a now long-dead immigrant to Canada who published a memoir in 1915.

Besides that, a couple of long (well, longish) train trips where there was nothing to do but read helped sort of get me into the groove. But it's very much a sort of "the block broke down suddenly" kind of a thing, that I can't completely explain. Hang in there, you'll get there.

I sympathize! I'm not sure what I did overall, but I will say that there were points where I had to push hard, and to carve out time for reading in place of other things, especially "easier" forms of entertainment.

Like, that's basically what the message is: don't bother building skills, never try to get good at anything. Let's all just be mediocre and lazy and low-effort all the time, even if it means drowning in broken apps and AI sludge "content" for the rest of our lives.
