It is the same. You attempted to discredit a chipset being “first gen” by virtue of the company having made chipsets in the past for a different product line. Honestly, the hardware is more similar in my example than in your original claim.

By that logic, the 2008 MacBook Air was not a first generation product, since we had iBooks, PowerBooks, and MacBooks before that. MacBook Air isn’t first generation. It’s like 9th.

I feel like it’ll be fine, Apple has become pretty renowned for their hardware/chipset design, especially since M1 (which I would count as a first generation product and a quite successful one at that). The efficiency gains are huge by themselves, if true.

Why do you believe that the C1 is going to be horrible? Just curious

My flaming nuclear take is that they should go back to having one iPhone line that comes in two sizes (think 6 & 6+ era) and sell it for a price between the current standard and Pro models ($899 and $999). The two lines are already so similar as of the 16 series.
