Got laid off during the recession from a camera equipment rental company, took a microbiology class, realized vets had the equivalent of nurses, went to school for veterinary technology, worked as a tech for a while but got super burned out, found a dog walking job through a former coworker.

Kids should be exposed to more than just kid-specific media. I get avoiding spicy or swear-y things but there's a whole world out there of music/movies/TV that's kid safe and also weird and great.
