If we had a million dollars, we swear, it would be gone in less than a week, on its way to artists. But we wouldn't be like those stupid 80s Hollywoods turning romance out of being poor, we'd find a way to stay comfortable, in our own way.

Our nominations for Best Small Fictions, just logged:
November 25, 2025 at 1:49 AM
Nominations are difficult this time around. So many good pieces! You know who you are. You're ensorcelling us.
November 24, 2025 at 10:53 PM
In uplifting news, we've got ten (X) pieces lined up so far for the micro-excerpt issue, #63, scheduled for January 18. Keep them coming! This will be a sneaky issue, sliding between normal issues, because it is, well, strange. Be strange with us!

so you know, we've explored every possibility for funding. None of them are viable or good. Writers and editors are accustomed to working without pay and that's a crime. Pushing your costs on supporters is also a crime. The best we can do is ask people to give what they can if they can. With care.

One difficult call to end them all, at least for a long time: We're not special and if you have the means & you love the mag, please consider a donation. Times'll get better, & maybe they won't get worse before then. We're a free mag & will stay free. Thanks!

Coming soon (4 December), another issue of Gone Lawn, this one puffed up with fiction. Great stuff! We can't wait to show it to you all. In the meantime, send us you stuff, especially if you have novel/novella excerpts (≤200 words) you think we'd love, for #63

It's very late in a 2025 year, and everything is chaotic and so are nominations, but we're doing it!

We're not doing it live.

We hope to get a bunch of good people in here, have we said how proud we are of our contributors? Yes, we are.

They make us feel all happy inside.
November 7, 2025 at 9:20 AM
We're starting to think it was a bit unfair to reduce your excerpts to a mere 200 words . . . but too late! You must suffer the restriction! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha hah!

#62, our cold moon issue, is filled (thank you, all!), and closed to fiction and prose poetry submissions. We are, however, still taking submissions of novel excerpts (≤200 words), cover art and other media.

Hate this sort of thing.

Dark times keep getting darker. If you like Gone Lawn and you have the means, consider a donation to keep us going, even something small. Thank you.

So! We're very happy with the response to the micro-excerpt call! Some really good stuff you people have been sending us. Keep them coming, please!

We've arranged a special issue (#63) to be released 18 January, a dark center of a dark winter month, & bright work emerging.

This all makes us happy.

We're bringing back excerpt submissions from unpublished novels and novellas, but adding a criterion: 200 words max length.

All other prose, fiction and poetry submissions still have no length limit.
