why is this mayoral election different than all other mayoral elections?

in all other mayoral elections, we get to see andrew cuomo lose but once. but in this mayoral elections, we get to see him lose *twice*.

I’ve been sitting on this really cool historical document about life in Indigenous 16th century Appalachia for seven years.

Since today is Indigenous People’s Day, I’m going to translate it and put it on my website instead of waiting for the perfect moment.

I'm now a certified California Naturalist! The course was delightful and I learned so many cool facts about the Mojave desert and CA more broadly.

Imagine interviewing a guy about some shitty unbuilt dam in Colorado and he just eloquently lays out the whole of US history in this snappy little quote.

King shit.

Every time I teach McCarthyism, at the end I ask students, "do you think something like this could happen here again?" Usually responses are mixed, but today it was alll yeses 🫠

I know this is the last thing anyone wants to hear right now, but the wind is expected to pick back up tomorrow in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. The National Weather Services says: "This is a continued extreme fire weather and wind scenario." www.latimes.com/california/s...
Weather service issues its most severe fire warning for parts of L.A. area as winds pick up
The most serious red flag fire weather warning has been issued by the NWS for swaths of L.A. and Ventura counties starting before dawn Tuesday.

Humanity losing the two best seasons just so a few rich dudes can get even richer
It was above 80º just a few weeks ago & today it’s snowing. For me the saddest consequence of climate change is the loss of fall & spring—feels like we just lurch between extremes now
