Proud Scot living in the beautiful Highlands. Animal and nature lover.
Beautiful sunrise today. It’s -3 degrees Celsius and I’m already fed up of the snow!

We were up in the Hill of Edderton near Tain today, it’s privately owned land ancient Croft land which the owner is trying to get historical recognition for. Part of that is re-establishing woodland tracks. Today we cleared an old peat track of gorse

Beautiful on both counts. I’ve posted this archive of Ivor before but you can’t have too much of a good thing when it comes to Whippets

Revisited some old haunts out West today on our journey to Ullapool. We used to live ‘out West’ but rarely venture this far now. The weather gods worked in our favour as the rain stayed away during our walks. Snow on the hills though #ScottishHighlands

Spent a great weekend at Trees for Life at Dundreggan in the Highlands @visitdundreggan.bsky.social learning about their work, walking and practicing yoga with like-minded people. We couldn’t have asked for better weather @highlandsrewilding.bsky.social @rewildscotland.bsky.social #Rewilding #Trees

When you’ve no power for 36 hours over a storm, what else is there to do but immerse yourself in a good book?! I started ‘A Fire in Their Hearts’, the new book by local writer Philip Paris #HistoricFiction #Books #ScottishFiction

And the continuing sunrise produces even more golden tones

These clear and cool mornings, where the morning sun gives the autumn leaves a golden glow are so uplifting. This is a view from the house that I’ll never tire of #Trees #Autumn

Walking the River Conon at the Brahn Estate in the Highlands. One of my favourite places to be and a great spot to see salmon, red kite and the occasional otter

Don’t you just love the stumpy-leggedness of a young Whippet? Here’s a memory shot of Ivor

A beautiful autumn day in the Highlands today. We went walking on one of our old haunts; 9 miles along the River Conon on the Brahn estate. This is one of my favourite places and holds memories of our much missed Whippet, Ivor. brahan.com/brahan-house... #ScottishHighlands #SalmonRivers

Remembering Ivor; an adventurous and risk taking Whippet who lived for his outdoor pursuits. And when I say pursuit, he was pretty fast! #Whippets

The interior stained glass windows of The Collegiate Church in Tain, the ideal place for a talk by Philip Paris on his new fictional book about the persecution of Covenanters in the 1600’s ‘A Fire in Their Hearts’ #Churches #Highlands #Books

Sometimes the back of buildings are more interesting than the front. This is the rear view of buildings on Tain High Street taken from the old cemetery. The higgeldypiggeldy rear of the buildings reminds me a wee bit of Edinburgh #Highlands

I went for my first wild swim today, sort of, managed to sit in the water for around 45 seconds. It was a wee bit windy and the tide was out but I’ll definitely do it again. I’m nice and tingly now #WildSwimming #Health

On our walk today we came across an Adder basking in the sun, thankfully off the main track. A beautiful creature, it slithered off hissing as I took a picture. The first live one I’ve seen in years #Nature #Wildlife
