Flip side to that being since you’re not renting, any repairs you need are coming out of your pocket instead of a landlord, which could end up negating the monthly savings. And unless it already has a metal one, you’re going to be replacing the roof within that time period, so there goes the savings

The only way I can make it make sense is if you were just planning on renting your whole life anyway and never had any intention of fully paying it off. If it makes the monthly payments substantially lower I could see that being enticing

Autumnal Offering

This is a song that I'm *very very* excited to have finally finished recording a version that I'm truly happy with

This one sort of started in the spring of 2020 while dealing with the stir-craziness of the start of COVID, when I'd gotten myself some recording gear to give myself

of Autumnal Offering, and What I Need was all newly written (and with the latter I had some fun messing around with my slide that I never use, even if it did need a million takes to get a just-okay performance)

Had some good fun with the production in layer vocals and adding various effects

rearranging ideas I had from the original recording before I started coming up with new sections (Fading Light and What I Need).

The building over an A chord in the intro and between the chorus/verse of Fading Light was based on something from a song I'd worked on even before the 2020 recording

got fully fleshed out.

Over the next few years I'd toyed with the idea of coming back and trying to 'finish' the song to get it somewhere closer to what I'd originally envisioned and something at the start of this year started getting some real work done, originally just sort of rerecording and

Initially I had the somewhat ambitious idea of making a song with several distinctly different sections, each of which I could then expand upon in their own separate song (for KGLW fans, think Change) to end up creating a larger project. I liked what I ended up with, even if the larger idea never

loops you could switch between, so you could have an A section in one loop and a B section in another)

The original version of Autumnal Offering started from a few different riffs I had that I wasn't sure what to do with, so I decided to try and put them together into something

something to do. Before then the most songwriting that I would do would either be just sort of strumming on an acoustic guitar and coming up with some words to add, or using my looper pedal to create things to noodle over (TC Electronic Ditto x4 was great for this since you could record two separate

Still nowhere near my usual pre-show anxiety, but now that we’re packed (overnight trip) and waiting for our friend to get here I’m 100% in that waiting-to-leave mode

So I guess today I learned that if I want to get a good recording of vocals, I just have to do the same part over and over like 10 times, and by the 6th or 7th I’ll start getting some halfway decent takes

So when I’m recording new layers I’ve been leaving the old ones on, so each take I’m singing with an increasingly larger group of myself. And because it keeps getting a little louder I just naturally start singing a little louder and projecting more
